For more than 20 years, HANDLE WITH CARE donors have made it possible for Family & Children Services to reach out to thousands of families. Such generosity has allowed us to meet critical needs of families already exhausted by the challenges of poverty and experiencing the darkest times of their lives.

HANDLE WITH CARE Annual

2009-2010

We invite you to make a gift to HANDLE WITH CARE, the annual fund of Family & Children Services. HANDLE WITH CARE provides a unique safety net for direct client needs and specific program assistance when there is no other source to turn to in our community. These gifts are needed more than ever. Please help!

Positive changes happen when people help one another. HANDLE WITH CARE gifts have:
• Paid rent so a mom and children living in a trailer next to a meth lab could move to safer housing.
• Repaired a family car so a dad could drive his daughter to weekly medical treatments in Ann Arbor.
• Purchased corrective lenses for an eight-year-old boy diagnosed with hyperactivity vision disorder to reduce the constant eye movement and improve his behavior.
• Provided a baby crib, mattress and sheets for a newborn, easing the burdens of a teen mother and the low income family that took mom and baby in.
• Widened doorways to increase a wheelchair-bound teen’s independence at home.
Your gift makes an inestimable difference in the lives of families who look to Family & Children Services as a source of hope. Because of you we provided:
• New beds for a family sleeping on mattresses found in a dumpster.
• Pest control to eliminate roaches in a home where toddlers play on the floor.
• A kitchen table, chairs, and dishes so a family can sit together to share a meal.
• A door alarm to alert the mother of an emotionally disturbed child when he makes his nightly attempt to leave his bedroom and may unknowingly hurt himself.
• Intervention to prevent eviction for a family behind on rent payments due to funeral expenses after the death of their three-year-old son.
